Scholar and Young man conversation!!

A Scholar was being interviewed by a young professional. Interview started...

The young man - "Sir, in your last lecture, you spoke about the concept of "CONTACT" and "CONNECTION". It was very confusing. Can you please explain?"

Scholar smiled and asked, "Young man, are you from this city?"

The young man replied, "Yes."

The Scholar then enquired about his family. The young man felt that the scholar was trying to avoid his question by asking such personal questions.

Yet he replied, "Father, two brothers, and a sister. My siblings are all married."

Scholar asked again with a smile on his face, "Do you talk to your father often?"

The young man got annoyed. Seeing this, Scholar said, "When was the last time you talked to him?"

The young man replied, "Maybe a month ago."

Now, the Scholar asked, "Do you meet your siblings often? When was the last time you had a family gathering?"

At this point, the young man felt as if the old scholar was interviewing him.

The young man was feeling uncomfortable with the scholar asking all these personal questions, but still replied, "We last met two years ago at a festival."

Scholar asked, "For how long did you all stay together?"

The young man replied, "Three days.."

Scholar asked, "How much time did you spend with your dad, sitting next to him?"

The young man looked upset and embarrassed and started scribbling something on a piece of paper.

Scholar continued, "Did you have breakfast, lunch, or dinner together? Did you ask how he was?"

Tears welled up in eyes of the young man.

Scholar held the young man's hand and said, "Don't be embarrassed, upset, or sad. I am sorry if I hurt you unintentionally but this is the answer to your question."

You are in 'Contact' with your father but you don't have a 'Connection'.

Connection is heart to heart... sitting together, eating, caring for each other, making eye contact, spending some quality time together."

The young man wiped his tears and said, "Thank you Sir, for teaching me an unforgettable lesson."

Flash: The ability to make connections is a fundamental aspect of human intelligence and our most essential tool for learning. In today's world, people are more connected than ever before, yet the true essence of connection is often lacking. Whether at home, in society, or in the workplace, we are all seeking meaningful connections, yet often fail to make the effort required. True connection can only be achieved when individuals feel truly seen, heard, and valued.

Moral: Everyone has a lot of "Contacts" but there is no "Connection". Everyone is busy in their world. Let's just not be in 'Contact' but stay 'Connected' through Caring, Sharing, and spending time with the people around us.

"Just ensure you have connections with people rather than only being in contact with them"
