Importance of Values and Good Habits

A young man arrived at the office, for his first interview. The young man used to live with his parents.

He was frustrated with his parents nagging for every little thing he did at home.

While waiting for the interview, he was thinking, "Only if I succeed in today's interview, I will say goodbye to my parents house and settle down in the city. Then I will not have to listen to my parents nagging all the time."

He started thinking about little things his parents used to nag him about :

How his mother asks him to make his bed after he wakes up.

If he left the bathroom door open, his mother would ask him to close the door and before that check if the tap was turned off properly.

How his father asked him to switch off the fan or light switch before he leaves the room.

His mother always nagged him about keeping things in the right place.

While thinking all this, he thought, "Why should I listen to all this, why should I do all this? If I get a job, I will leave their home."

When looked around, the young man saw that many candidates were sitting in that office.

The young man saw that the veranda light in the office was still on and it was ten o'clock in the morning. Remembering his father's words, he got up and switched off the light.

Then he saw that water was dripping from the water cooler kept at the office. He then went to turn off the tap properly.

It was written on the board that the interview would be held on the second floor.

So, while going upstairs, the young man saw that there was a chair in the way, he removed it from the way and it kept aside and went to the second floor.

Now, waiting outside, the young man saw that candidates already present were going in and immediately coming out.

When the young man inquired about it, he got to know that, the interviewer didn't ask anything.

After taking the file from the candidate, he just asked them to go back.

The young man's number came. He went inside and passed his file to the interviewer.

After looking at his file, the interviewer said, "When are you joining?"

The young man was surprised.

Looking at his face, the interviewer said, "Today, in interviews, no one was asked anything. We noticed everyone's behavior on CCTV. Everyone came but no one switched off the tap or light. You have good values and habits."

"A person who doesn't have self-discipline, no matter how smart and clever he is, can not succeed in management and life."

After the interview was over. The young man reached home and hugged his mom and dad.

He apologized to them, thanked them, and said, "In my life, my degree had no value in comparison to the lessons I learned from you because of your nagging on small matters."

"Today, I have come to know that not only education but good habits and values are important if I want to succeed in life."

Flash:- Good habits, values, and self-discipline are often more valuable than academic qualifications, and they can significantly contribute to success in both personal life and professional endeavors.

Moral:- The young man learned that it's the small things, like being responsible and considerate, that can make a big difference in how one is perceived and can ultimately lead to opportunities and success.

"Success is built on good habits and values, not just degrees"
