Embracing the Infinite: A Tale of Humility and Wisdom
A saint was strolling on the beach. Seeing a child crying on the shore, the saint went near that child and lovingly asked him, "Son, why are you crying?"
Showing a cup in his hand, the boy said, "I want to fill the ocean in this cup in my hand but it doesn't fit in my cup." Hearing this, the saint was astonished and started crying. The child was startled seeing this and said, "Why are you crying?" Saint replied, "Ocean doesn't fit in my cup also."
He asked, "But where is your cup?" Saint replied, "Child, you want to fill the ocean in a small cup and I want to fill the information of the whole world in my small mind. Today, after seeing you, I realized that an ocean can't be contained in a cup."
Hearing this, he threw his cup into the ocean and said, "If the ocean cannot fit into my cup then my cup can fit into it." Listening to this, the saint fell at the child's feet and said, "Child, what a great thing you have said."
Saint looked toward the sky and said, "God, I can't absorb all the knowledge of your world but I can get absorbed within you, get one with you."
Flash: On a serene beach, a saint encounters a crying child trying to fill a tiny cup with the vast ocean. Moved by the child's innocence, the saint learns a profound lesson about the limits of human understanding and the beauty of embracing the boundless universe.
Moral: True wisdom comes not from trying to contain everything within ourselves, but from recognizing our place within the vastness of existence.
"The wise adapt themselves to circumstances, as water molds itself to the pitcher."
