The Beauty of Your Own Flow

Long ago, in a land where summers were hot and winters gentle, there lived a river and a lake not too far from each other. Travelers would often pass by both, stopping to admire their beauty. From a distance, they seemed complete, yet deep inside they carried stories of doubt.

The river rushed every day through mountains and valleys. It carried boats, turned mills, and brought freshness wherever it went. People clapped when they saw its might, children shouted in joy as they splashed along its banks. But at night, when the stars came out, the river felt a hollowness. “I move so much, yet I never pause. I cannot hold the beauty of the sky in me like the lake does. I feel incomplete.”

The lake lay still under the open sky. It mirrored clouds, moonlight, and even people who sat beside it to find peace. Poets wrote verses about its calm, lovers confessed by its shore, tired farmers rested under its shade. Yet deep inside, the lake felt a heaviness. “I stand still all the time. I do not get to travel, to meet new lands, or to carry life along like the river. I feel incomplete.”

Both carried their envy quietly, always looking at the other, never feeling enough.

One summer, the rains delayed and a drought spread across the land. Crops began to dry, people grew anxious, and animals wandered in search of water. The villagers rushed to the river, and it did not fail them. It carried its water across miles, keeping distant fields alive.

At the same time, those living near the village came to the lake. Though it did not move, it held enough to quench their thirst and soothe their weary bodies.

That season, the river and the lake watched each other again, but something had changed. They saw how people were saved both by flowing waters and by still waters. For the first time, the river did not feel lesser, and the lake did not feel incomplete.

They realized their strength was never in becoming like the other. It was in being exactly what they already were.

And in that moment, the comparison faded, leaving behind only peace.

Flash: Usually in life, we keep glancing at what others are doing, thinking their path looks brighter than ours. But strength is not in copying their journey. It is in knowing our own pace, our own role, and walking with clarity. That is where peace begins, and confidence grows.

Moral: Comparison is endless, but peace is simple. The day you embrace who you are and move with confidence, you stop chasing shadows and start shining in your own light.

Peace begins where comparison ends!!
