The Basket of Pebbles
In a quiet village between rolling hills, a young girl named Tara carried a small dream in her heart. She wanted to build a rainbow path near the old banyan tree, a path that would glow each evening when the sun dipped low. Every afternoon she walked by the river, choosing pebbles with care, holding each one like a tiny treasure.
One day, as she arranged her pebbles on the ground, Tara froze. Her basket held many greys and browns, yet barely any bright colours. Her dream suddenly felt too big for her small hands. She sat under the banyan tree, watching the leaves sway in the wind, feeling the gentle sting of disappointment settle inside her.
A few village children noticed her quiet sadness. When they heard about her dream, something shifted in the air. One child dashed home and returned with smooth white stones. Another brought deep blue pebbles from the far end of the river. A third carried a handful of shining crystals, a gift saved by his grandparents for special moments.
Soon the banyan tree was surrounded by little footsteps and excited voices. Piece by piece, colour by colour, the path began to bloom. What had once been a lonely idea now glowed with the warmth of many hands. When the evening sun finally touched the path, it burst into a swirl of colours, brighter than anything Tara had imagined.
The villagers gathered with soft smiles, watching the path shimmer like hope laid gently on the earth. Tara looked at the glowing colours and realised something powerful. Her dream had not grown bigger, but her circle had.
Flash: At work, we all begin with our own small basket of strengths and ideas. Some days our colours feel few, and our vision feels larger than our resources. But when teammates come forward with their time, their ideas, and their support, the picture becomes brighter than what one person can create. Community at work is not built in grand moments, it is built in shared efforts that turn ordinary days into something meaningful.
Moral: Dreams grow when shared, colours shine when combined, and communities flourish when many hearts add their piece to the path.
Togetherness turns simple efforts into unforgettable colours!!
